Our fine arts program is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that includes a strong foundation in the arts. Creation is an essential aspect of education because it develops creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Our fine arts program also encourages students to explore their artistic interests and passions while developing skills and building confidence in a nurturing environment. Their artistic talents are used to serve others while making a positive impact on the world around them.
Throughout the school year, art students find their creations on exhibit in and outside of school for various exhibitions such as the South Plains Fair, the Lubbock Arts Festival and recently on display in retail merchants such as Barnes and Noble. They also participate in a number of other competitions or festivals throughout the school year. They work in various mediums from water colors, acrylic paints, charcoal drawings, clay and sculptures and so much more.
Our award-winning band program is a testament to its dedication to music education. Our SCS Bands have been awarded multiple Sweepstakes Awards, recognition for outstanding performances on solos and ensembles with numerous students selected for the ATSSB All-Region Bands and ATSSB All-State Bands. The SCS High School Warrior Band has competed in and won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) State Band Championship numerous times. This program also offers a newly renovated beautiful band hall and is expanded into Field and Jazz Bands and Drumline for the 2023-2024 school year. From Pre-K through 12, we are proud to provide a strong and thriving fine arts program.
Even at our SCS Elementary Campus, Pre-K through 4th music students engage in various lessons and activities including music theory, music history and composers. They learn elements of music theory through a system called Note Knacks. They also participate in several performances throughout the year including the Veteran’s Day program, Christmas program and Spring program. Our elementary campus also offers an impressive curriculum of art in which students learn about and create in a multitude of mediums. In addition to music and art, elementary students have the opportunity to participate in theater productions through performance, costume design and set production.
Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Gifted Instructors Cultivate Creativity
An incredible faculty guides students in sharpening their skills and using their abilities in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. Our teachers are gifted artists in their own right, with a passion for sharing their love of the arts with students.
“It has been a huge blessing to know my child is in a safe, loving, God-centered environment, learning and socializing with quality friends and teachers each day. I cannot say how much that is a comfort and peace to our family.”
