Our Curriculum

Early Childhood & Elementary—Pre-K through 5th Grade

The A Beka Curriculum is used in the Early Childhood Department (pre-kindergarten through first grade). A Beka is a phonics based program presented in a Christian context. It provides a solid foundation for reading and comprehension that will give students exceptional skills in both areas. Curriculum taught in grades 2nd through 5th include A Beka (math 2nd—4th), Saxon (math 5th), Bob Jones University Press (science, social studies, literature, reading) Accelerated Reader, Concerned Communication (handwriting), Biblical Choices/Standard Publishing (Bible 3rd-5th). Spanish is taught to all K through 5th grade students. Students also are taught music and physical education appropriate for their age.

Middle School — 6th through 8th grade

Middle school curriculums include Saxon (6th grade math through Algebra 1), Bob Jones University Press (grammar/ language, reading, social studies, literature, science) LifeWay/Character Quest (Bible), Summit/Lightbearers (Biblical Worldview), and Rivers Edge / Total Health, Prentice Hall (Texas History). Spanish is taught in 6th-8th grades. Our computer lab offers courses in keyboarding, Windows and Microsoft Office Suite of products, which includes Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and Word.

Extracurricular Activities

Our middle school program offers a variety of elective classes that allow students the opportunity to explore and develop their individual interests, gifts, and talents. Elective class options include art, drama, music, Latin and Mandarin.

Student Council, community service projects, and class trips provide students with opportunities to expand their interests and develop service character.

Athletics

We have a variety of athletic programs available for the middle school grades focusing on developing skills for a variety of sports, encouraging good health and exercise, practicing good sportsmanship, and using our talents to bring honor to our Lord. We offer basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and girl’s volleyball. Each season will include competitions with area schools.
